1st June Reykjavik to UK

Never forget to mention yesterday night I knew a new friend from US by sharing a spaghetti with him for dinner

It's not easy to buy raw material of food just for one person, but we always like to share ^o^

Glad that he like my food as well

My Denmark's dorm-mate told me last night that he went to Hveragerði day before by hitchhiking to a nature thermal pool there

With his describtion and map guiding, I decided to visit it today, by hitchhiking of cause ^o^

 

So, this is the place

 

I walked into the village, and found that almost every places have vapor from the ground, but I just walk accordingly what has been taught

And I found this before I walked into the mountain

It totally convinced me that I'm in a right place

When I walked up to the mountain, the weather seems not going well...

Fogging cover all around the mountain

 

After 3 hours walking, I'm yet reach the 'Thermal Pool'

And I met a British father and son from the opposite direction, the father said: Is all mud in front, we went to the pool just now and I think is not worth to visit with this weather~

Finally, I decided to give up...

It's my first time to give up a made decision in this 3 months journey

I'm just too pity on my belonging with me

My only winter jacket is soaked, my only sport shoe is mudding, my body is cold and shaking...

I do check the weather report yesterday

I know it's going to be rain

Base on my 3 weeks experience, Iceland's rain is just like mist, will not have a heavy rain

However, it's different saying for mountain hiking

This the consequence I need to bear~ but I do have one person to blame on

My damn dorm-mate kept telling me it's just one hour to reach

Am my leg too short or he went there by flying? 

Everyone I met during the walk was told me is a long way to walk, but yet I choose to believe on him...

Wash my poor shoe downhill with the thermal water

At least, I touch the water

Not totally go home with nothing

There's a cafe hut downhill

Just went in to away from the rain and eat something to warm myself

A Belgium couple I met in the cafe hut and they are really nice to take me a lift to get rid from the place >.<
They are one of the 'give up' hiker as well

I went back to the backpacker lodge and took my shower with what I had brought with me to the thermal pool
As I had checked out this morning, and I stored my luggage from morning until evening I went back for the airport transport I booked. The van will come and fetch me at 9.30pm in the backpacker lodge.
My US new friend are going to hitchhiking to the airport tonight, I will met him in Keflavik Airport and overnight in the airport

What a women asked as simple as a show off in the departure hall

but, flower is a good ornament I will said ^o^

31st May - Akureyri to Reykjavik

Sad... I can't visit Mývatn for the nature bath as no bus will go to Mývatn on Saturday until 1st of June (the typical summer schedule for Icelandic buses T.T)
It's cold here and I really wish I can have once thermal pool to against the cold >.<
Not the commercial one, I need the nature one

 

HOF - the cultural center and conference hall located in the city center of Akureyri

I have been told by a driver who is professional in construction that the stone made the facade of HOF is special and only can found in Iceland, as the stone is kind of fossil of volcano, very hard and difficult to form

Most of the shop open at 10am, therefore I can only get my breakfast at 10am >.<

And my bus is going on 10.15am

It's summer now, the sun never will set, a thick curtain is neccessary for a bed room to get proper sleep atmosphere

 

Bye Akureyri.... Wish I will be back one day and set out to the sea for the midnight sun witnesses

 

29th & 30th May - Vik to Akureyri

Today is my last day in Vik, I spent almost a whole night to work out a wedding blessing MTV for a good friend of mine in Malaysia
End up never pack any thing when sun rise, and I need to get to the bus station at 12pm

 

The bus doesn't go straight to Akureyri from Vik

I need to change another bus at Rekyavik -  Mjódd

   

Quiet a bad design for this cup

Can't manage to handle it well >.<

 

All Icelandic buses able to buy ticket on the spot with international credit card

But... If just 100kr you can pay with cash rather than credit card right?

Along the journey from the most South (Vik) to most North (Akureyri) there are plenty of incredible view

 

Just glad that I have a window seat to enjoy the view

 

And feel thanks for the free wifi available in the bus

Then I won't be too boring during the long journey

The bus do have plug for charging

 

And thanks for the driver who driving safe

Next day

Is really a dream for me to ride a horse once in my life
As I'm too short for these gorgeous and large mammal
Encounter the Icelandic horses are gentle and calm in their nature, never have my second thought to have a horse riding day today

 

Everytime I decided to travel a place, I must read the weather report first before I made any decision in Iceland

Only good weather go with good photography 

 

His name is Stormur, in English mean "Storm" 

I think he haven't had enough on his breakfast that morning, he kept on dipped his head to the grass whenever we stop. Which actually a great pull of the rein to me... Really regret never wear a glove for horse riding >.< poor my painful hand T.T

 

After the horse rid, having a quick lunch, heading for my next activity

Finally... need to spent this unique and rare 10,000 Icelandic krone for eating purpose
